Downey Fuqua

Downey Eugene Fuqua died peacefully at his home surrounded by his children and grandchildren on November 12, 2020 in Rich Hill, Missouri.

He was born to Ernest and Paulene Fuqua on December 2nd, 1942 in Rosedale, Kansas.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Fuqua of the home of 42 years, his sons, Jerry and James Fuqua of Rich Hill,  grandson Dakota Fuqua of Rich Hill, granddaughters Makayla Fuqua of Amoret, Shyla Fritts of Adrian, Makenzi Fuqua-Russell of Elk City, Oklahoma, Dezirae Fuqua of Rich Hill, Lexi Fuqua of Rich Hill, grandson Jared Fuqua of Merwin, great-grandsons Xander Fuqua of Butler, Quinton Fritts of Adrian, and Layne Fuqua of Rich Hill, his siblings, Linda Harmon of Stillwell, Kansas and Larry Fuqua of Louisburg, Kansas, and a host of other cousins, nieces and nephews, and family members.

He is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Paulene Fuqua, his brother Ernie Fuqua, and his sister Susie Moore.

Downey was a talented bricklayer of 40 years who worked on many renowned projects. His interests included fishing, gardening, spending time with his grandchildren, and making jokes at any opportunity he could. He is remembered by his family to be kind, loving, and full of life. Those who knew him were touched greatly by his presence and he will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of being in his life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the family in care of Heuser's Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 16, 2020 at 12:00 noon at the Heuser Funeral Home in Rich Hill with family receiving friends from 11:00 am until service time.  Burial will be at a later date in Green Lawn Cemetery, Rich Hill, Missouri.  Services under the direction of the Heuser Funeral Home, Rich Hill, Missouri.
