Icie Foster

June 19, 1934 — March 27, 2020

Icie Christine (Bowen) Foster, age 85, was born June 19, 1934 to Carvin T. Bowen and Clara Christine (Hill) Bowen in Wilburton, Oklahoma.  Icie attended school in Rich Hill, Missouri and this is where she would meet and marry her husband of 46 years, Kenneth “Pete” Foster.  To this union, 12 children were born.

Icie was employed at Baken Plastic in Lee’s Summit, Missouri for 9 years while living in the Harrisonville area.  In the mid-70s, her family moved to Taberville, Missouri, and was employed at sewing factories and the Blue Inn Restaurant in Appleton City, Missouri.

In 1981, Icie and Pete with the two youngest living at home moved to Appleton City where she enjoyed making numerous new friends that love her dearly.  In 1990, Icie and Pete moved to Rich Hill where she joined with her daughter in opening Miner’s Inn Restaurant.  For 7 years, they worked together along with other family members, very dear friends, and customers that thought she was the absolute best.

Icie retired in 1996 to be at home and care for Pete through his battle with cancer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Theo Foster; son, Clarence Foster; son-in-law, Brian Knight; grandsons, Billy Richardson and Corey Hood.

Survivors include her children: Chris Foster, Kenneth Foster, Esther Foster, Lillian DeTienne, Anna Foster and Bobby, all of Rich Hill; Lester Foster and wife Sandy of Buckeye Lake, Ohio; Wyvonne West of Rockville, Missouri; Ruby Foster, Marion Foster and Julie, Roma Demster and husband Art of El Dorado Springs, Missouri; and Penny Knight of Appleton City, Missouri; 34 grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great grandchildren.

“One day at a time, sweet Momma.”  We will be counting them until we see you again.
