Janice Bolser

Janice Rosalie (Wheatley) Bolser passed away September 11, 2026, at Medicalodges, Butler, MO. She was born January 19, 1934 to Fred Oliver and Nell Ayer Wheatley of rural Rich Hill, Missouri. Janice “Janny”, the youngest of 9 children grew up on the family farm east of town and attended country school before attending high school in Rich Hill. Ronald Bolser captured her heart in high school when he had a beautiful cedar chest delivered to her home as a token of his pledge to marry once she graduated high school. The couple married October 19, 1952 at the Happy Hill country church on Hwy N east of town. Ronald and Janice had three daughters. The couple moved several times during marriage living in Lees Summit for 32 years and settled back in Rich Hill in 1997.

Janice loved her family and enjoyed everyone gathering together to celebrate any occasion. She was a member of Rich Hill United Methodist Church. She was extremely active in the community and enjoyed baking and volunteering her help with dinners. Janice loved fashion and could never have enough clothes, shoes or jewelry. Her love of flowers brought her to serve in many capacities including President of the Rich Hill Garden Club, now known as Ready, Set, Grow. She was delighted to see the projects completed by RSG in beautifying the town.

Janice was an avid Chiefs and Royals fan. She and Ron began vacationing at Estes Park, Colorado in the early 1970’s and had a love for Rocky Mountain National Park. Janice enjoyed her friends at the Kern Center, helping prepare and serve meals, working on jigsaw puzzles, various crafts, playing dominoes and bingo. She also enjoyed Book Club. Janice loved Mexican food and never turned down a good margarita. Janice and Ron were proud to serve on the board of the former Youth Development Center.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Oliver and Nell Ayer Wheatley, brothers Kenneth (Elnora), Jim (June), Alan (Delores), Wayne (Doris), Warren, and Forrest, and sister Marian (Pete) Eikenbary. She is survived by her husband Ronald, Rich Hill, MO, sister Joanne Buhr, Adrian, MO, sisters-in-law Phyllis Wheatley and Mitzi Knight, Rich Hill, MO, daughters Sharon Love of Eureka Springs, AR, Jill (John) Galate and Janell (Shane) Ledford of Lee’s Summit, MO, grandchildren Kara Galate of Kansas City, MO, Nick (Alison) Galate and great grandsons Jacob and Roman Galate of Lee’s Summit, MO and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held Wednesday September 16, 2026 at 2 pm with family received friends from 1-2 pm at Heuser Funeral Home, Rich Hill. The family suggest memorial contributions to the Mark Wheatley Scholarship Fund or Rich Hill Methodist Church. Private Interment in the Carbon Center Cemetery in Rich Hill, MO.
