Velma Russell

Velma M. Russell, age 91, of Butler, Missouri passed away Friday, June 17, 2022, at Medicalodge in Butler, Missouri.  Velma was born May 26, 1931, the daughter of Noble and Margaret Hogan Christopher.  She was united in marriage to Raymond “Bud” Diehl and to this union 8 children were born. Velma worked as a nurse aide for several years at Bates County Memorial Hospital and Medicalodge. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Debra McIntire; three grandsons, Seth Thomas, Logan Evans, and Christopher Beisly; one infant granddaughter; three brothers, Junior, Bill, and Raymond Christopher; two sisters, Daisy Christopher and Betty Spradley.  She is survived by one son, Larry Diehl and wife Connie of Rich Hill, Missouri; six daughters, Donna Diehl of Kansas City, Missouri, Jackie Fischer and husband Barry of Butler, Missouri, Patty Brittingham and husband Randy of Butler, Missouri, Cheryl Hamilton and husband Rob of Brandon, South Dakota, Shelly Thomas and husband Mitchell of Butler, Missouri, and Melissa Burt of Ft. White, Florida; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and one son-in-law, Jerry McIntire.  Velma loved her children and grandchildren very much.  She will be missed by all.

Graveside service will be 1 pm Saturday, July 9, 2022 at the Green Lawn Cemetery, Rich Hill, Missouri.  Visitation will be held from 12 noon to service time at the Heuser Funeral Home, Rich Hill.
