Stonie Heckadon

September 8, 1943 — November 10, 2022

Stonie Lee Heckadon was born September 8, 1943 to LeRoy and Lucille (Laning) Heckadon.  He departed for his heavenly home on November 10, 2022.  Stonie was born in Rich Hill and graduated from Rich Hill High School in 1961.  Growing up, Stonie worked the family farm.  He then worked for People’s Grain in Rich Hill and Ideal Truck Lines in Kansas City.  He served in the National Guard Reserves.  On January 31, 1967, Stonie married Kathy Coonce.  This marriage was blessed with three children: Melissa, Michelle, and Justin. On November 21, 1975, Stonie married Peggy VanBlaricum.  This marriage was blessed with one daughter, Tabitha.  Stonie is survived by his four children: Melissa (Cyrus) Nichols, Foster, Missouri; Michelle Ryan, Nevada, Missouri; Justin Heckadon (Karen Jones), Raytown, Missouri; Tabitha (Don) Polacek, David City, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patsy Buhr of Adrian; Gale Eason of Hume; one brother, Skippy (Janice) Heckadon of Rich Hill.  Stonie is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Peggy; his parents, LeRoy “Cotton” and Lucille Heckadon; parents-in-law, Charles and Delores VanBlaricum; one child; one great-grandson, Caine Schmidt; three brothers-in-law; and several fishing and hunting buddies.

Funeral service will be held 11 am Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at the Heuser Funeral Home.  Burial will be in the Green Lawn Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Monday, November 14, 2022 at the Heuser Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Stonie Heckadon Memorial.
